Keen golfer Alan White reckons he’s found the parfect holiday home in sunny Spain.

The construction contracting boss has bought a fantastic luxury villa overlooking the fourth green at La Finca Golf Club in Algorfa on the Costa Blanca.

He said: “It’s perfect for a golfer like me but it’s also great for all my family because we’re very close to some great shopping centres and restaurants.

“Or, if you’re feeling lazy, you can just stay at the house all day because we have our own pool.

Buying this place is the best move we’ve ever made.”

Alan and wife Angela, both 51, of Port Seton, East Lothian, took their first tentative steps on the foreign property ladder in 2004.

They went to an exhibition organised by Scottish agents Bravo Scotland at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and ended up putting down a deposit on a two-bedroom duplex in Ciudad Quesada, near Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca, without ever having visited the area.

Alan laughed: “I know it was a bit strange but we went on our inspection trip after we put down our deposit.

“I’d been to other parts of Spain and knew we’d like the Costa Blanca so we decided just to go for it.”

The couple picked up the keys to their duplex in July 2004 and loved splitting their time between Spain and Scotland.

Spending more and more time on the area’s golf courses, Alan made friends with a couple who owned a home on the popular La Finca club.

And when a new villa became available for sale there in October 2006, the Whites jumped at the chance to buy it.

Alan said: “We met a fantastic young Spanish lawyer called Juan-Miguel Moreno when we made our first purchase through Bravo Scotland.

“Everything ran smoothly and it gave us a lot of confidence about buying again.

“When the golf course villa came up for sale we contacted Juan-Miguel and within a month the place was ours.”

The couple snapped up the three-bedroom property for 465,000 euros (£375,000) and paid an extra 43,000 euros (£35,000) installing a private pool.
